Runner of his first ever half-marathon in October 23rd’s Iron Horse, where he finished in a remarkable time for a “Half Virgin,” 2:11:28! Since May of 2010, D.J. has lost a whopping 114 pounds.

2011′s Most Improved Runner of the Year

Results are gathered from each spring’s RunTheBluegrass in Lexington and each fall’s Iron Horse Half-Marathon in Midway, Kentucky. Both are scenic, challenging and comparable courses through Thoroughbred Country.

2011's Julep Cup: The Most Improved Runner of the Year

Lisa’s 2011 Race Results

April 3rd’s RunTheBluegrass finishing time: 2:49:28. Average pace: 12:56/mile

October 23rd’s Iron Horse finishing time: 2:01:19. Average pace: 9:15/mile

That is a dramatic, almost mind-boggling improvement of 48:09 over the course of 13.1 miles, or 3:41 faster per mile, in only six months of relentless, dedicated training! Congratulations, Lisa, on one of the most successful years anyone – runner or otherwise – could ever have!!!

We presented Lisa with her award, this custom-engraved Julep Cup, at our first annual Awards Banquet, Wednesday, November 9th, in Lexington.
