ROAD CLOSURES

RACE MORNING

   For Neighbors

and Residents to plan

Every spring, for 14 years, America’s Prettiest Half Marathon has attracted thousands of visitors to Lexington who spend their money in our local small businesses.

Over 1/2 of our guests travel in from outside of Kentucky.

Saturday, May 11

  7:30-Noon**

Starting & Finishing at Talon Winery

**Rolling re-openings mean Lexington Police re-open the roads directly behind the last runner, they don’t wait until the last runner completes all 13.1 miles.

For example, Delong Road will re-open even as early as 9:00am since it’s early in our course.

Additionally, for local residents, Lexington Police will allow you through - possibly with an escort or with a short delay.

Race Day Mobile Command

859-397-7243

Call this dedicated number if you need anything urgent on Race Morning itself. One of our key staff members is stationed directly with Lexington Police and Lexington Fire (EMS) on race morning to handle emergencies.

I, like you, can also sometimes get annoyed at road closures. In the case of RunTheBluegrass, it’s only for a few hours (sometimes less), one day a year - and fortunately, Lexington’s Police are absolutely terrific at working with course neighbors and residents in helping you get through.

Please reach out to me with any questions.
